The KaiABC protein system can function as a modular oscillator, functioning robustly outside of its native context in cyanobacteria. We are working to use these proteins as a platform to engineer oscillatory behavior into other contexts. In collaboration with Rae Anderson, Jenny Ross, and Mo Das, we are building autonomous rhythmic function into synthetic materials made of biopolymer networks.
